Good afternoon, and welcome to you all. I hope and expect to see a healthy contingent of away supporters today; an all too rare occurrence in this League.
Most of you will be aware of the Supporters Club’s regular activities, such as the match-day bucket collections, football cards and programme sales. Recent programme notes have also covered our attendance at the Club’s Sporting Dinner, and our Match sponsoring role at the forthcoming Boston game. Sometimes though, I think people forget about our ongoing fundraising initiatives, the ones we set up at the beginning of the season then leave to accumulate for the next twelve months.
One of these, namely “Play the Squares” is well subscribed, and as it offers advertising potential is now likely to tail off, due to us being 2/3 of the way through the season.
Our other programme based option is the “Goal-o-meter” page, which offers you the opportunity to sponsor every goal scored by the Shaymen during the course of this season.
While a few fans (including one currently in Australia) have put their names forward, there is still time for others to add new pledges. Should you not fancy sponsoring something as simple as each goal scored, why not dream up a sponsorship with a difference? Some fans have pledged a contribution for each hat-trick, every clean sheet, and even for achieving promotion. Why stop there, though? Any suggestion (within reason) will be gratefully accepted, and I would like to think some of the fans I know can dream up some weird and wonderful ideas, and hopefully give us a good laugh at the same time.
Contact any Supporters Club committee member with your ideas, and we’ll set it up for you. Couldn’t be easier. Contributions pledged now will be payable at the end of the season, when it will be used to offset the Club’s travel costs.
