FC Halifax Town B U19s were defeated 3-2 by Stockport County at Wyke Sports Village with the game being decided right at the death.

Stockport controlled the tempo at the start of the match. Having the ball from 25 yards out, their midfielder had a long-range effort that looked destined for the top corner but a wonder save from Prior stopped Town from conceding early on.

The first goal went to Town in the 19th minute. Favour Gold latched onto a tremendous through ball from Hamza Hamdosh and was taken out by the goalkeeper. Hamdosh stepped up and converted to give Town the 1-0 lead.

More quality from Gold, he spun his man and forced a foul from the left back resulting in the defender being yellow carded.

An amazing goal from Town put them two goals ahead in the 32nd minute. A fast-paced counter-attack with Gold involved again, running down the right he put a low whipped cross into Lewis Barlow who at full stretch managed to convert.

Just before half-time, Stockport pulled one back. A quick one-two into the box got them the opportunity to get back in the game for the second half.

Straight away in the second half, Town had the chance to reclaim the two-goal lead. Barlow squared it into the box but the ball somehow ended up over the crossbar.

Another chance from Gold, working the line he beat his man and found his way into the box. Unfortunately, the ball couldn’t find its way in the near post.

In the 77th minute, Stockport got the equaliser. The attacker cut in on his left and rolled in the bottom corner to make it two apiece.

A ball over the top to the opposition striker left him one-on-one, but it was no issue as Town were able to prevent the chance on goal.

Another penalty for Town in the 89th minute, this time it was Barlow who was pulled down inside the box. Peltier stepped up but a good save from the keeper denied Town from the spot.

In extra time Stockport got the winner, a chip over the goalkeeper saw the three points go to Stockport.
