FC Halifax Town ran out 3-1 victors in a friendly away to Spennymoor Town.
The Shaymen had the first chance of the game, when Tayt Trusty’s ball found Josh Hmami who saw his effort go just wide.
Town kept the pressure, with the pick of the chances falling to Amari Morgan-Smith. His shot deflected just wide following a well-timed diving challenge from the hosts.
On the half hour mark, Town took the lead through Hmami. Morgan-Smith capitalised on a defensive error, leaving a simple tap in for Hmami to give Town the advantage.
As the second half got underway, Conor Carty replaced Morgan-Smith.
Just before the hour, Town’s lead was doubled through David Kawa and a cool right-footed strike.
It wasn’t long before Spennymoor offered Town a reply, taking the scoring to 1-2 in the 61st minute. Their captain rounded his man, and nestled the ball into the bottom corner.
Trialists A and C, along with Arian Allen were replaced by Shaun Hobson, and Trialist F and G in the 64th minute.
Two minutes later, Cody Johnson and Will Hugill replaced Trusty and Trialist D.
With just over 15 minutes to play, Town’s two goal cushion was restored. Hmami’s long-range effort was out the ‘keepers reach and hit the back of the net for the Shaymen.
Shortly after, True Grant, Hmami, and Kawa made way for Zak Gilsenan, and Trialists E and H.
Town’s Trialist ‘keeper was called into action early, getting a hand to a long-range Spennymoor effort.
In the 83rd minute, AJ Warburton was replaced by Trialist C.
Hobson found his name in the book with five minutes left in the book. Play resumed and it was Carty who forced the ‘keeper into a smart stop at the other end.
