FC Halifax Town will make the long trip to Essex to take on Southend United in the Vanarama National League on Saturday, 3pm kick-off.
The Shaymen sit in 7th place looking for a seventh away victory of the campaign after wins at Oldham, Rochdale, Woking, Ebbsfleet, Gateshead and Altrincham so far this season.
Town go into the game with the meanest defence in the league having conceded just 24 goals in 26 games to date and are on a run of four games unbeaten in the league with two draws at home and two wins on the road.
Southend are 17th on 28 points but would be just two points behind the Shaymen if they hadn’t received a 10 point deduction back in August.
They have lost their two festive games against Barnet 1-0 at the Hive and 2-0 at Roots Hall but beat Kidderminster Harriers 2-1 at Aggborough on the 23rd December which is their only win in five games.
Harry Cardwell leads the goalscoring charts for Southend with 12 league goals in 21 games.
The two sides met at the Shay in September with a 1-1 draw. Wes Fonguck put Southend ahead but Town earnt a replay with Adam Senior’s goal. Town were reduced to 10 men with Luke Summerfield sent off by referee Paul Marsden which was later rescinded.
