Southend United: Current position 7th – P43 W21 D12 L10 F72 A40 GD32 PTS75

Job done for The Shrimpers with three matches remaining. Tuesday’s 0-2 away win at Aldershot Town ensured a top seven finish taking them eight points clear in 7th over The Shaymen with only six points left to play for. Right-Back Gus Scott-Morriss bagged his 16th goal of the season in the 35th minute with Charley Kendall adding a second just before half-time. Manager Kevin Maher then spoke of ‘seeing the game out’ and is thrilled at a second Playoff campaign in a row.

Southend will now be setting their sights on finishing as high up the Playoff places as possible; coming into Saturday’s matchups The Shrimpers still have a chance of finishing in 4th or 5th place which would guarantee a home tie. They also have an FA Trophy Final versus fellow National League side Wealdstone to look forward to at season’s end. Having already sold over 11,500 further Wembley tickets have been released taking the best supported team in The National League’s allocation to 21,000.

FC Halifax Town: Current position 8th – P44 W19 D10 L15 F66 A60 GD6 PTS67

Another top ten finish for the hosts, their sixth in seven seasons. Adam Lakeland and much of his squad have acquitted themselves well in their maiden season at National League level.

Town can still, for now boast a Striker in Will Harris who has twenty-six goals this season, Midfielder Josh Hmami with sixteen, the emergence of Jay Turner-Cooke, and a solid backline in Will Smith, Shaun Hobson, and Ash Palmer (four clean sheets in eight loan matches, with four wins and two draws). Sam Johnson also continues to move toward five hundred appearances, with most players mentioned above under contract for 2026/27 too.
