Ryan Cresswell

Cresswell started his professional career at Sheffield United but played in a first team for the first time while on loan at Halifax in 2007.

The defender played 15 times during his time at the Shay and failed to score any goals.

It was the first of five loan spells in just two years at Bramall Lane, one of which included a short stay with Ferencvaros in Hungary.

He joined Southend on a permanent transfer in 2012 and stayed at the club for one season and was an almost ever present in the league making 43 appearances, scoring six goals.

During his only season the shrimpers did manage to get a day out at Wembley but lost in the Football League Trophy final after loosing to Crewe 2-0 in the final.

Lee Nogan

The former striker is more well known for his time with Watford and reading, but before establishing himself as a first team starter he was sent out on loan to Southend in 1987 where he scored one goal in six appearances.

Nogan moved to Halifax as a free agent in 2011 and finished his professional career with the club.
