FC Halifax Town U19s unbeaten run was ended this week as they lost 1-0 to South Shields, in a game they will inevitably feel like they deserved to get something from.
They played well throughout the game, dominating possession and were unlucky to find themselves going home with nothing from the game.
The Shaymen found themselves 1-0 in the 13th minute as South Shields worked the ball onto the left side and finishing into Atkinsonโs net.
Town recovered well and took control of the game but struggled create clear chances.
Jack Knight came agonisingly close to equalising in the 26th minute as his first time effort scraped the outside of the post.
FC Halifax continues their domination in possession towards the later stage of the first half, with some excellent defending from South Shields preventing them from finding their deserved goal.
Town started the second-half brightly, with Kelan Swales looking dangerous down the right side.
The Shaymen came close to their first of the day as Gloverโs long range effort clipped the crossbar on itโs way over.
Once again FC Halifax came close to scoring with multiple blocks inside the box by South Shields kept them out, but the pressure looked to be mounting.
In the 63rd minute the ball was cleared off the face of the goal by the away side, as Chamโs cross narrowly missed the foot of Sunderland.
Two exceptional saves from the South Shields keeperโ denied Town two goals from corners, that looked almost certain to be hitting the back of the net, adding to Townโs frustration.
Town continued to search for the equaliser but South Shields held strong and saw out the win.
