FC Halifax Town host Solihull Moors in the FA Trophy 2nd round this weekend. Here we look at the previous fixtures where we faced Solihull Moors.

Solihull Moors 1-2 FC Halifax Town 28/04/12

Back in the National League North the two sides faced off in the last game of the season. Neither side earned promotion that season, but FC Halifax Town came away winners on the day. Lee Gregory got the first goal of the game to make it 1-0 at half time. Sean Clancy made it two and made the game comfortable for the Shaymen. Craig Hinton’s penalty brought Solihull back into the game but the Shaymen held it out and earned their victory. FC Halifax Town came 3rd and lost in the play offs, while Solihull survived relegation by coming 19th.

The clubs face off again in the National League North but a certainly less exciting affair this time at the Shay. As you’ll see with our results, it seems to be a routine affair with us drawing 0-0 with Solihull which we hope to be different on Saturday.

An improved away performance again at Solihull Moors. Liam Needham’s early goal sent to FC Halifax Town into the lead at half time. Jon Worthington and Dan Gardener’s second half goals eased the Shaymen to a 3-0 victory in the season where FC Halifax Town won the play offs and gained promotion to the national league.

The teams wouldn’t face each other now till we were both in the National League. FC Halifax Town claimed their first win of the season against Solihull Moors. Adam Morgan finished of a searing counter-attack to score the only goal of the game. Solihull Moors did have a golden chance to equalise after the break with Oladapo Afalyan’s penalty was saved by keeper Sam Johnson.

FC Halifax Town missed the chance to pull away from Solihull Moors, but they couldn’t find the net. Mike Fondop-Talom missed numerous chances, while Matty Brown came agonisingly close. Both keepers made heroic stages late on in the game to keep the game at stalemate.

Again, we have another 0-0 between the two sides. This time Solihull had the better of the game and if it wasn’t for our keeper Sam Johnson, we would’ve come away with 0 points. Danny Wright also had the chance to win Solihull the game, but he blazed his penalty over the bar.
