Defender Jack Senior spoke to Shaymen TV following the 1-0 loss away to Solihull Moors.
βI thought we dominated it for large parts of the game with the ball. We came here to press them, and thatβs exactly what we did, we made it a battle in midfield, out wide. We stuck to our task, we had a lot of the ball and there were quite a few chances were we couldβve gone 1-0 up or equalised after their goal went in. For us, itβs a poor goal to concede and weβre not used to conceding for a while so it just hurts that little bit more. Itβs one of them, but we shouldnβt be conceding goals like that and weβve had chances. Iβve certainly had a few where I couldβve put it on a plate for people so Iβm disappointed with that and myself. If you look at the whole picture, I think we deserved to get something out of the game but itβs one of those games where we havenβt.β
The full-back said it was disappointing that Town conceded to Solihullβs only clear chance of the game, saying; βWe havenβt started the second half as well as we have done before, they had us penned in, a lot of throw ins and stuff like that. One ball in behind in then theyβre in, they square it, so it wasnβt against the run of play in the second half but it was for the first half- we dominated the ball. When they went 1-0 up we stuck still stuck to our task, we had chances to equalise and on another day we score however many, three or four, but itβs just one of those days. Weβre all disappointed with the end result because itβs the end of our run.β
Senior thought there were positives to take from the performance despite the result, saying; βI think the main thing is with has a plan coming here, and obviously the scoreline doesnβt reflect it, but in terms in what weβve actually done in the game, we stuck to it. We wanted to high press them, and the amount of times they didnβt play out, or when theyβve tried to, we were winning it back and to a man, weβre all working hard for each other and thatβs something that hasnβt changed for a long time. Itβs just one of them, we havenβt conceded that many for a while so it hurts even more, but there are positives to take. Weβve got a chance on Tuesday to turn it around now.β
On Tuesdayβs game against Dagenham & Redbridge, Senior said; βIn terms of where we are in the league and where they are, itβs a big game. We want to make sure The Shayβs a tough place to come, and so far apart from Maidenhead on the first day of the season weβve made it tough for so everyone, so weβll be looking to continue that. Weβll make sure weβre bang on it on Tuesday.β
