Following FC Halifax Town’s deserved 2-0 victory over high-flying Solihull, Michael Duckworth spoke to Shaymen TV.
“We deserved the result,” cemented the full-back.
“Obviously it helped us when they went down to ten men. Which I think was a red card.”
Before half-time, Solihull’s Lee Vaughan was sent-off after a high-footed challenge on Matty Kosylo.
“I feel that even if they had eleven men on the pitch we’d have still been solid. We applied ourselves magnificently and got the job done.”
Duckworth stated that his side knew that they had to guard against complacency at half-time, and said: “We knew they [Solihull] wouldn’t change their game plan. They were going to try a long ball approach because they’ve got three big lads, so we defended as a unit.”
“If we defend well as a team, we know we can then create chances up front. We’re a threat no matter who we’re playing against.”
With another clean sheet to add to the already impressive tally and two more consecutive games at home, Duckworth stated: “We’ve been defending well for a while now, so if we can keep our good relationship going, then we’re going to keep going in to games thinking we can get a clean sheet which is a good mentality to have.”
