FC Halifax Town took on 6th placed Solihull Moors at home today in an 7:45 kick-off. Both teams were looking to bounce back with a win after losses over the weekend. Chris Milington was watching from the stands this evening after a third yellow card in the game against Aldershot.

The Shaymen started the game on the front foot, with some decent efforts going forward. It was the visitors who opened scoring however, with a looping Whitmore header able to find it’s way over Johnson after an inswinging corner in the 24th. Capello also saw yellow that minute after bringing down Jay Benn.

Jack Stevens nearly found another for the visitors, with a curled right footed effort from outside the box just past the top right corner.

Solihull scored a second in the 28th, with Maycock putting the ball in the net after latching onto Campbell’s scuffed shot, with a potential deflection involved, putting the visitors 2-0 up.

Town made their first substitution in the 38th minute, with Capello being replaced by new signing Jack Jenkins for his second Shaymen appearence.

Just before half time, Campbell had a decent Solihull effort saved and Betts headed attempt also saved. After 3 minutes of added time, the ref blew the half-time whistle.

Going into the second half, Town made another substitution, bringing on Evans to replace Hunter.

Solihull received their first yellow in the 48th minute, with Benn being carded.

Town were beginning to put pressure on Solihull early in the second half, but conceded a penalty in the 58th however, with Stevens placing the ball into the bottom left corner, to put Solihull 3-0 up.

Jenkins had a good opportunity to pull one back for Town in the 63rd, his shot just over the bar. He found himself through on goal again in the 65th, going down and winning a penalty, converted with a cool finish by Summerfield to pull one back for the Shaymen.

In the 70th minute, Solihull replaced Stevens with Ladabie.

Town were putting more counter attacks together late in the game, with Cooke forcing a few saves.

Town made another sub in the 82nd, bringing on Cosgrave for Senior, and Campbell was also  replaced by Sbarra for Solihull. Solihull made one final substitution in the bringing on Richard Stearmen to replace Matty Warburton in the 89th. Moments before this, Jamie Cooke hit the bar for the Shaymen after a right footed shot.

Cooke attempted another shot from range late on in the game, and shortly after a save from Hayes, the referee blew the full time whistle, the game ending 3-1, moving Solihull Moors up to 4th in the league.
