FC Halifax Town held onto 2-1 lead against last season’s runners up Solihull Moors. Pete Wild spoke to Shaymen TV after the game to discuss his thoughts, Liam McAlinden’s goals, Matty Brown’s injury, and Tuesday’s trip to Chesterfield.

On the game…

He said: “First half I thought we nullified their threat and managed to get a goal. We looked quite comfortable. Second half, the message was for more of the same. I didn’t think we did that. We were on the back foot quite a lot. When we got the second goal, I thought that settled us down. It was a poor goal to give away. Then we spent a lot of time under pressure. Fair play to the back four. Special credit to Nathan Clarke, last 20 minutes he won some very important headers for us.”

On McAlinden’s form…

He said: “Liam’s doing well. I’ve known Liam for a while, and I knew what he could bring to us. When I got the chance to bring him here, I was really pleased because I know what kind of a treat he can be. Hopefully he has found a home here at the Shay.”

On Brown’s injury…

He said: “There’s no indication of the severity now. Hopefully it’s not as bad as we first thought. We won’t know that until the start of next week when the physio can give him an assessment.”

On Chesterfield away…

He said: “It’s another tough game. John Sheridan sets his sides up well. I’ve got great respect for John and his work. I know they’ll be tough to play against. They certainly get the ball down and play. So, another tough match for us. Got to get on the road, good teams get on the road and do well.”
