FC Halifax Town under 19โ€™s cruised to a fourth straight league win after a 7-0 victory over Rochdale at Rothwell Juniors.

Ousman Cham scored twice after coming off the bench as a substitute whilst James Sunderland, Jack Knight, Eliel Anku, Liam Healey and Sam Clayton were also on the scoresheet.

Victory for Town wraps a fantastic week for the side after progressing to the next round of the League Cup with a 3-2 penalty win at Stockport County.

It took Halifax less than a minute to move into after a stunning strike from James Sunderland from 20 yards found the top right hand-side corner of the Rochdale goal.

Just three minutes later, Halifax doubled their lead after some good hold-up play from Anku set up Knight who raced through and finished well one-on-one against Ben Fisher.

Anku went from provider to score 20 minutes later as the frontman latched onto a deflection off Joe Burgoyne before firing the ball into the bottom corner for his eight goals of the season.

On the half hour mark, Town made it four went Marko Basicโ€™s through ball sent Sunderland away down the left flank before the midfielder cut back to Healey who finished from close range after Fisherโ€™s initial save.

Minutes later, manager Mark Trueman was forced into an early enforced substitution after goalkeeper Carl Rushworth went down with an injured wrist after colliding with Tyler Smith.

Town held on to their four-goal cushion taking the strong lead into half-time.

Halifax began the second-period in the same fashion they had started the first with Clayton scoring within a couple of minutes of the restart.

The defender steered home Ankuโ€™s attempt from the edge of the area past Fisher to put Halifax five goals in front.

Three minutes later, substitute Cham made an immediate impact from the bench as the winger provided a great finish from 20 yards out after a fantastic interchange of passes on the edge of the penalty area.

After the hour mark, Rochdale were reduced to ten men when defender Burgoyne was shown a red card by the referee for dissent.

Cham completed his double 15 minutes before full-time as the sub was on hand to touch home a great low cross by Anku across the face of the goal.

Cham and Anku combined once more a few minutes later but this time Anku was unable to finish. The number nine was inches away from connecting with Chamโ€™s low delivery from the right flank as he looked for a brace of his own.

Town continued to push on and attempt to increase their lead and came agonisingly close, hitting the woodwork three times in the final ten minutes.

Chamโ€™s deflected shot hit the bottom of the post and went out for a corner with the resulting set piece seeing Tosin Abioyoโ€™s header also strike the frame of the goal.

Five minutes later, left back George Glover nearly became an unlikely scorer as his attempted chip over the goalkeeper hit the woodwork.

Town were unable to find that elusive eighth goal but eased to another valuable three points.
