FC Halifax Town fell to a 1-0 defeat to National League North side Radcliffe FC.
Brad Roscoe’s headed goal from a corner was the difference between the two sides as Town struggled to really test Mateusz Hewelt in the Radcliffe goal.
The hosts got off the better start with a succession of corners in the opening 20 minutes, and it was from these set-pieces that they found the opener. Jordan Hulme swung the ball into to the near post and Roscoe’s header found the back of the net to make it 1-0.
Town grew into the game and came close on a couple of occasions. Frankie Sinfield saw his initial effort saved, but his follow up crashed against the cross bar before bouncing clear. Sinfield then nearly turned provider as just minutes later it was his cross that found the head of Max Wright, but he couldn’t direct it on target.
The hosts nearly doubled their advantage immediately after the restart. Bradley Jackson coming down the right hand side, cut inside but his curling effort came back off the post before Town cleared upfield.
With just a few minutes to go, played stopped due to a serious injury to Isaac Modi, however play would not restart as the referee blew the full time whistle with Modi eventually being stretchered off.
Up next for the Shaymen is a trip to National League North side Scunthorpe United on Saturday 27th 13:00 kick-off.
