In the Emirates FA Cup, Stourbridge – the only side ranked lower than Town left in the competition – will take on Northampton Town at home after the original tie was postponed due to a frozen pitch. Stourbridge, of the Evo-Stik Premier Division, have made a real habit of success in the arguably most prestigious cup competition in the world, reaching the second round proper in four out of the last six seasons. Northampton sit in 13th in the EFL League One, whilst their hosts are 8th in the Evo-Stik Premier.

As well as the Shaymen’s replay at the MBi Shay Stadium v Eastleigh, there are three other second round replays on Tuesday night. Fleetwood Town host Shrewsbury Town, Oxford United entertain Macclesfield Town, and Milton Keynes Dons welcome Charlton Athletic after all three ties finished goalless at the first attempt.

Peterborough United v Notts County (2-2) and Newport County v Plymouth Argyle (0-0) will replay next Tuesday and Wednesday, December 20 and 21, respectively. These games take on extra significance as the winners of Peterborough v Notts County will be rewarded with a trip to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea on Sunday, January 8, whilst the victors in Newport v Plymouth will play at Anfield against Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool on the same day.

Sutton United and Barrow are the only non-league sides to have secured their place in the third round, but at least one more will join them: either the Shaymen or Eastleigh. Stourbridge and Macclesfield will also both be doing their best to bolster a non-league third round contingent that has already eclipsed last season; when Eastleigh were the only side to make it, losing 3-2 at Bolton Wanderers in a replay.

There are no matches in the National League North this Tuesday, December 13. AFC Telford were scheduled to host Brackley Town and the Shaymen were due to visit Alfreton. However Brackley will be in Buildabase FA Trophy replay action at home against AFC Fylde, after they drew 1-1, while Halifax have their Emirates FA Cup Second round replay against Eastleigh after the initial 3-3 draw on Sunday, December 4. It is the second time Town’s trip to Alfreton has had to be put on hold, after it was originally scheduled for Saturday, November 5 but both sides had FA Cup fixtures.

From the Vanarama National League North sides, as well as Brackley v Fylde, Harrogate Town will also be in FA Trophy replay action as they travel to Barrow after drawing 3-3 at home on Saturday.
