John Beresford

Halifax Town was John Beresford’s last football club, he joined in 2002 at the age of 36 and played just twice in the league during the season.

Beresford did have a very successful career in football, having played in the premier League with Newcastle and Southampton.

He also spent three years at Portsmouth before his move into the Premier League, during his time with Pompey he made 107 league appearances, scoring eight goals.

Simon Eastwood

Goalkeeper Simon Eastwood played for Town for one season during the 2011/12 campaign, he featured heavily only missing five of Halifax’s league games, playing in 41.

At the end of the season his contract was not renewed and after a successful trial, he joined Portsmouth on a free transfer.

Eastwood played 27 times for Portsmouth in league but could not prevent the club from suffering back to back relegations to League 2.
