Our U10 groups (a mix of our advanced and development players) had a fantastic opportunity last week. They travelled over the hills to play against Manchester United.

Arriving at the famous Cliff Training ground, they had a look around the old first team changing rooms that had players such as Best, Cantona & Beckham as previous users.

Looking down onto the outdoor training pitch one of our players said “are you sure that’s real grass?” It was, and it’s getting pulled up soon! Our groundsman would have had a heart attack.

They then went into the training hall and played two 40 minute games against the Manchester United U9 group. They gave a very good account of themselves, provided a different test for Manchester United and received praise from the opposition coaches. As an added bonus the boys got to meet Michael Carrick (his son plays in the U9 group) and the night was complete. No doubt the boys were full of stories for their friends/teachers at school the next day, and no matter where their pathway takes them they will have had a day to remember.

Although it was National League vs Premier League the boys wore the badge with pride and were a credit to the club, their coaches and their families.
