Following FC Halifax Town’s 4-1 loss against Notts County, manager Chris Millington spoke to Shaymen TV to give his thoughts on the game.

“It was frustrating and disappointing,” Millington said. “I’m disappointed with various aspects of our play, frustrated with other aspects and I think it was a game that finished really when we conceded that first goal. Up until then the game plan we had was working. We had contained Notts County’s threats and although we didn’t have as much of the ball as we have had in recent games, we were in control of their possession. Then we concede the goals and we go into half time with the situation we’re in and it felt like a mountain to climb.”

Osayamen Osawe was finally able to make his debut as a second half substitute for the injured Luke Summerfield.

“He is a good player,” Millington told Shaymen TV. “Obviously he needs minutes, not dissimilar to some of the other lads. We’ve seen Kian Spence build on his minutes today and we’ll have to check how he is for Monday. Osayamen is a threat, but he’s going to need games and time. There will be other players as well who, after today, will be believing they deserve a start on Monday because of the run of results and today’s weak performance in terms of our defending. So it’s good to have Osayamen in the building, but there are other boys now who are going to have the opportunity to step up and play on Monday.”

Town travel to Scunthorpe United who are also struggling for form, having lost four of their first five games.

“Huge reaction required,” Millington said. “Of course every game becomes bigger at the moment. Speaking to the Notts County staff after the game and they can pick out a few positives in our play and pick out the threats that we did carry, but it’s no good us being a team that other people talk about in positive terms, we’ve got to turn those into results. Conceding soft goals like we did today is the biggest concern. We’ve got to turn things around. Today has to be used as a turning point because. We’re very early on and the season is already looking like it’s starting to slip away if we don’t start picking up some results.”
