FC Halifax Town U19s defeated North Ferriby United in the FA Youth Cup with a 6-0 win. Ethan Blakeman spoke to manager Gavin Atherton regarding the win

Congratulations on the result today, are you pleased with the performance?

I thought the lads have done really well, first half looked a bit nervous but considering they are first years. Going into second half especially the last thirty minutes they really grew into the game.

Some very impressive team goals tonight, were they straight from the training ground?

We are onto our block of work now. Which is working through playing central areas. I know for a fact having those players out on the pitch we have got the ability to score the goals that you’ve seen tonight. And I think working in that final third area and the bits that we’ve worked on tonight, we’ve obviously shown the ability that the lads have.

Your side will be facing Guiseley next round, how do you see that game going?

We have known previously that Guiseley are going to be a strong side, we know it is going to be a tough battle. So, we know what we have got to do and dig in deep and got to make sure we put in another performance like we did in the last twenty minutes of the half.

How far do you think your side can go in this competition?

We want to go as far as possible. If we can make it through the rounds. I’m not expecting to go all the way, but I do want to expect we go round by round and want to actually see how far we can get these lads.
