FC Halifax Town announces the appointment of Pete Wild as its new 1st Team Manager.

Pete joins the ‘Shaymen’ following his role as Head Coach of SkyBet League Two outfit Oldham Athletic last season.

Wild, took up coaching at the age of 18, rising through Oldham Athletic’s backroom staff, before getting his break as the Latics caretaker manager in December 2018.  Just 10 days later, he was famed for masterminding an Emirates FA Cup Third Round ‘giant-killing’, as the Lancashire side came from behind to knock out Premier League side Fulham, who were then managed by Claudio Ranieri.

His successful spell as caretaker manager came to an end, as the club appointed ex-Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes at the helm.  Two months later, he found himself back in the dugout becoming the Head Coach on a full-time basis, where he guided Oldham to a 14th-place finish.

New FC Halifax Town boss Pete Wild –

”I’m really looking forward to the challenge ahead, I feel I can draw on my experiences from last season and work quickly to ensure this Club competes well in this division. I’ll be looking to draw on the experience of Nathan Clarke, Matty Brown and the other senior pros to ensure they help drive the squad forward. This is an exciting time for us all and a challenge we should all embrace”

The Club would also like to go-on record and thank Steve Nichol and Nathan Clarke who have taken over the 1st team reins during the past week. Nathan has been the consummate professional who remains such an important part of our playing squad and will now be able to focus fully on his vital role within the team.

We’ll continue to update our supporters with timely information on new squad additions over the coming days.
