After a simply incredible climax to the 2024/25 season, the Enterprise National League South is already displaying evidence that the new campaign could be something special too.
All the talk this summer was about which full-time club would shine the brightest – but August was all about a number of clubs not on the tipsters’ lips!
Maybe they should have known better with Daryl McMahon in charge at Hornchurch.
The experienced Irishman lands the Manager of the Month award after his team’s flying start, which saw the Urchins win five from six.
While a number of the fancied big hitters struggled to shake loose the starting blocks, Hornchurch raced into the distance – and only two teams in the past eight seasons have begun better.
The Essex boys defeated Weston-super-Mare first, before back-to-back away wins at Eastbourne Borough and Enfield Town.
They then beat Farnborough 3-1, before a six-goal thriller at Salisbury ended all square. Hornchurch ended August by breezing past Chippenham Town 3-0 – and ended it on top.
One thing the rest of us learned last month is something Weston-super-Mare supporters have known for a while…. Britton’s got talent!
Louis Britton has been a stand-out performer for the Seagulls as they put a slow start to one side to win their final four in August.
Your Player of the Month scored three times and also made an appearance in the Team of the Week as his club ended the opening month in second spot.
Don’t think this form is a flash in the pan. Weston have won their first two games in September, too – making it six victories in a row.
Keep this up and it won’t be the last award they pick up this season!
