Daryl McMahon and Matt Rush have been recognised as the first Enterprise National League Manager and Player of the Month of the new season.

We’re thrilled to announce August’s award winners and explain why our select panel were left with no other option but to pick the pair.

Hornchurch took the Enterprise National League South by storm by winning the play-offs last year, and have they got the scent of promotion in their nostrils again?

The Urchins’ dream start to life in their new division brought four fantastic wins from their first five matches.

It all started with a 3-0 success at home to fellow new arrivals Kidderminster Harries, before Irish manager McMahon masterminded victory at Barrow.

Not even a heavy loss at Carlisle could knock them off their stride as great wins over Woking and at Boston United drew the month to a close.

The decision makers decide it just had to be Daryl, despite an excellent first four weeks from Sutton and Chris Agutter, Billy Rowley at Yeovil Town and Luke Garrard.

But it will surprise absolutely nobody to discover Boreham Wood didn’t leave last month empty handed.

Striker Rush was in a real hurry to show everyone his team are over their Wembley heartache – and that the departure of the sensational Abdul Abdulmalik won’t derail their EFL quest.

Rush, who signed on New Year’s Eve 2024 after an agreement was reached with Sutton United for his services.

After nine goals and one assist including a hat-trick on the opening day against Tamworth, the 25-year-old picked up right where he left off last season.

But he knows he wouldn’t have his hands of the trophy if it wasn’t for team-mate Zak Brunt, who incredibly supplied the assists for six of his goals.

Rush saw off fellow nominees Tristan Abrahams (Aldershot Town) Daniel Urpens (Sutton United) and Luke McCormick (Yeovil Town) to win the award – and the Wood Army know Matt is worth his weight in goals!
