Three changes were in store for the Shaymen ahead of a visit to the coast to face Morecambe. Sean Tarima, Will Hugill and Jamie Cooke came into the side.
Halifax fell a goal down to win 2-1 for the second time within a week after goals from Josh Hmami and Owen Bray as the Shaymen extend their unbeaten streak to four games.
The opening twenty minutes were largely controlled by the home side. Although Morecambe struggled to create any clear-cut chances, their dominance in possession eventually paid dividends midway through the first half. Jack Nolan cut inside from the right flank before curling a superb effort into the top-left corner, putting the Seasiders 1–0 ahead.
Halifax looked to respond immediately through Jay Turner-Cooke, who capped off a flowing move with an effort from distance, but his strike sailed high over the bar.
The Shaymen’s final two opportunities of the half fell to Angelo Cappello. First, his driven ball into the box from 20 yards found Jevon Mills, only for the defender to be flagged offside. Moments later, Cappello tried his luck himself with a low, drilled shot from the edge of the area, but Archie Mair dealt with it comfortably.
At the interval, Owen Bray replaced David Kawa as Town searched for a route back into the game.
The visitors started the second half brightly, forcing a corner within two minutes of the restart. From the resulting delivery, Mills rose highest, but his header was comfortably gathered by Mair.
With less than ten minutes played after the restart, Halifax drew level. Substitute Owen Bray broke down the right flank before whipping in a dangerous cross to the penalty spot, where Josh Hmami rose to nod home for 1–1. Mills then went close moments later with a deflected effort, sparking a succession of corners for the visitors.
Pressure did turn following the hour mark, Miguel Azeez was at the heart of a lot of the Shrimpers attacks, he found himself inside the box before unleashing an attempt, but his effort was well blocked. Moments later Elijah-Dixon Bonners effort flew narrowly over.
With just over ten minutes to go Owen Bray arrived to put the Shaymen ahead. He screened the ball well before moving the ball away from the defender and getting a shot away, it took a deflection before nestling into the back of the net for his third of the season. Hugill then drove forward before striking the ball, but Muir kept it out to deny the Shaymen from going two up.
Goal scorer Hmami was forced off with five to go through injury with Adam Adetoro coming on in his place. Six minutes were added to the end of the ninety for the Shaymen to hold on.
