FC Halifax Town are delighted to confirm the signing of defender Max Bardell, following his departure from Buxton.
Having spent time in the youth setups at Huddersfield Town and Manchester City, the defender made the move to Derby County in 2019. Initially signing on a scholarship deal, Bardell signed his first professional contract with the club in the summer of 2021. Having become a key player for the under 21s, and featuring in some match day squads with the first team, Bardell signed an extension in January 2023.
In October 2024, the defender joined AFC Fylde in the National League on a one-month loan. This was extended through until January, and then extended again through to the end of the season. Bardell made 27 appearances for Fylde, but couldn’t prevent their relegation to the National League North.
In the summer of 2025, Bardell was released by Derby and was picked up by John McGrath for Buxton. Bardell made 40 league appearances last season as the Bucks finished 5th, and the defender was named player’s player of the season.
