Marine knocked FC Halifax Town out in major FA Cup upset.
It was former Shaymen midfielder Louis White’s goal in the first half which helped Marine to send his ex-team out at the Fourth Round qualifying stage.
The Shaymen went 1-0 down early in the 8th minute after Andrew Oluwabori was dispossessed in his own half from a throw-in. This allowed Louis White to go 1-1 with Johnson and slotted it past the keeper.
Marine winger Sol Solomon nearly made it 2-0 in the 15th minute as he went passed full back Ryan Galvin and tried to sneak it past Johnson from a tight angle, with captain Sam Johnson making an important save.
Tylor Golden had a great opportunity to equalise in the 35th as Andrew Oluwabori slid the ball through to the right back who had acres of space to drive into, but his strike went well over.
In the 66th minute Felix Goddard stopped his team conceding as a lovely Halifax move ended in a Ryan Galvin ball being attacked by forward Aaron Cosgrave. Goddard punched the ball away from the forward for a corner.
Florent Hoti had the best opportunity of the game for Halifax in the 85th minute. Ryan Galvin drove into the box and pulled it back to the midfielder, but he fired wide of the target.
This proved to be the last major chance of the game as Marine defended well to complete yet another FA Cup shock.
