Billy Waters made his FC Halifax Town debut yesterday afternoon in the loss to Maidenhead, despite the disappointing result, Waters was able to cap the day off with a goal to lighten spirits.ย ย

The striker spoke to Shaymen TV and began by assessing his debut; โ€œIt was a frustrating day because we played well, creating the play, linking up and passing it around โ€“ but we just didnโ€™t take our chances, and Iโ€™m included in not taking chances. I got one goal, but I should have got more. It is only the opening day, so we wonโ€™t get too disheartened, but we do really need to take our chances.โ€

He added on what his goal target is this season; โ€œMy target every year is 20 goals because Iโ€™ve never got that in my career but first and foremost, I need to try and get double figures and take it from there. Overall, it is nice to score on my debut and get the goal tally underway, Iโ€™ll be honest.โ€

Waters signed for the Club after being part of a Torquay United side that reached the National League play-off final last season and Billy was questioned on whether he felt a similar vibe to this Halifax squad.

โ€œHopefully, the fans can see what we are trying to do, and in our game, you could see patches of us doing well โ€“ the result wasnโ€™t fair, and Maidenhead will tell you the same, but theyโ€™re good at what they do. But I thought we were good, so I do see a similar vibe to that Torquay squad,โ€ Billy answered.

The interview ended with Billy looking ahead to the next match for the Shaymen which is away at Woking.

โ€œWe need to take a lot of confidence out of today but keep hold of our feelings because we all feel hurt after the result. So, we need to take that on board and give it our all against Woking to make sure we come back with the result that we want.โ€
