Following FC Halifax Town’s narrow 1-0 defeat against Maidenhead United, manager Pete Wild spoke to Shaymen TV to give his thoughts on the game.

“It’s been a tough few days,” Wild said. “Illness has taken two of our players out. We get to the hotel, do some exercises this morning and Kian’s hamstring is sore. Then again Luke Summerfield has come down with illness this morning. So it’s rife through the camp. That has certainly affected our preparation today and maybe affected the result as well.”

The Shaymen made four changes to the starting XI, all of which were enforced changes due to illness and injury.

“We are a squad,” Wild told Shaymen TV. “We’ve got to use the squad. If you call the game off, then what you are saying to the rest of the squad? We had enough players to start the game. But then we had to bring Tyrell Warren off at half time due to illness as he had been sick. Greeny also does his ankle after 25 minutes. It was just a culmination of a lot of things that didn’t go our way today that have generally gone our way so far this season.”

Maidenhead made the break through 29 minutes in through star-striker Josh Kelly who made no mistake in finding the bottom corner.

“We started the game really brightly,” Wild said. “For the first 15 to minutes it felt like it was just a matter of time before we scored so I think it was against the run of play. We don’t deal with the ball and we give it away far to easily in midfield, it was a poor goal to concede. We then get two chances to deal with it but we don’t. So it’s a poor goal to give away and I think it really rocked us.”

Town’s next fixture sees Boreham Wood make the trip to the Shay on Tuesday night in front of the BT Sport cameras.

“You are going to lose some matches, that’s life,” Wild told Shaymen TV. “Unfortunately we are on the wrong side of the result today. We’ll count the bodies, see who we’ve got and we’ll take it from there.”
