“I couldn’t sleep last night I was so excited to play today.” Claimed Devante Rodney as he helped FC Halifax Town beat Maidenhead 5-2.

The Shaymen went into the break 1-1 with a late equaliser from the opposition in the 45th minute. “We were good in the first half but just disappointing to concede a sloppy goal late. “However, the striker told his team at half time to “Keep up the pressure as he knew that they would tire in the second half.”

Rodney partnered up with former teammate Jack Redshaw for the first time in a Halifax Kit. Rodney was full of praise for his teammate “Everybody knows how good Jack is. He’s a quality player and to play alongside him is great.”

Devante’s shot helped led to the score line of 3-1 in the second half, but the goal was given as an own goal to Twumasi. He joked “It was on target and going in anyway. I’m claiming it as mine anyway.”

Rodney was substituted in the 70th minute and was full of praise towards the FCHT fans after the support he has had since joining back to the club. “The fans have been great and were as well today. It’s great to be back in a Halifax shirt and hopefully there’s more to come.”
