FC Halifax made it three wins in a row in pre-season with a 1-0 win away at Macclesfield FC.
In a quiet opening 45, Macclesfield had the best chance of the half. A low cross to the back post was tapped home from close range. However, the linesman’s flag spared the Shaymen.
With just minutes left remaining in the first half, Town struck the woodwork. Will Hugill’s effort from close range was tipped onto the bar before his follow up effort looped behind for a goal kick.
Will Harris made the breakthrough just past the hour mark. Substitute Angelo Cappello poked the ball through to the striker whose shot took a deflection to take it past the keeper.
With ten minutes to go captain Sam Johnson pulled off an excellent double save to keep The Shaymen ahead. A 30-yard free kick was pushed away before the Town keeper stuck his legs out to save the follow up attempt.
Up next for The Shaymen is a trip to Radcliffe on Tuesday, 7:45pm kick off.
