Jamie Thomas Joins The Shaymen

FC Halifax Town have announced that Jamie Thomas has joined the Shaymen on loan from Preston North End.

Jamie Thomas began his career with Blackpool, spending eight years in their youth academy before switching to Bolton Wanderers on a two-year scholarship.

The forward netted 17 times in the under18s Premier League in his first year at the club before scoring 15 in his second year. After these exceptional performances in the youth team, Thomas was rewarded with a one-year extension. The 25 year-old was an unused substitute in two Championship fixtures but was released in 2016 having made no first team appearances.

Whilst with Bolton, Thomas made eight appearances for Wales under 19s. He also scored on his debut in a 3-1 win over Montenegro, followed by another goal in his second game for his country. He went on to feature in all of the qualifiers for the 2015 UEFA European Under-19 Championship. In total he managed four goals in his eight games for Wales under 19s.

Following his release, he made the switch to Burnley to play for their development squad. Whilst with Burnley, Thomas was sent on loan to Ayr United, but game time was once again limited and the loan was cut short. Having been released by Burnley in 2018, the forward made the move to Squires Gate in the North West Counties Premier Division. After just a year at The Blues, Thomas made the switch to AFC Blackpool in the North West Counties Division One North.

On June 28th 2021 it was announced that Thomas had signed for Bamber Bridge in the Northern Premier League Premier Division. However, just one month later he went on trial with Championship side Preston North End, having impressed them during a pre-season friendly which saw him score twice. At the start of August Thomas signed a one year deal with Preston, with the option of extending it for a further year. He now joins the Shaymen on loan to bolster our attacking options.

Jamie will wear shirt number 16.
