Jack Hunter Joins The Shaymen

Jack Hunter joins the Shaymen from fellow National League side Gateshead following their promotion as champions from the National League North.

The central midfielder began his career at Newcastle United where he progressed to the under 23s, becoming a key player in their Premier League 2 campaign, losing to West Ham under 23s in the playoffs in 2017.

Hunter first joined Gateshead in 2018, making his debut in a 3-1 win away at Maidenhead United. The midfielder went on to make 36 appearances in the league, helping the North-East side to a 17thย placed finish in the Vanarama National League, with the club being relegated to the National League North.

The 24 year old then joined Blyth Spartans in time for the 2018/19 season where he would make 31 appearances as Blyth finished 21stย in the National League North before the season was curtailed.

Hunter then re-joined Gateshead for the 2020/21 season, making 14 appearances as the season ended with Gateshead in 10th. Last season, Hunter made 30 appearances for the Heed, scoring once as they topped the league by seven clear points.
