FC Halifax Town were held to a 1-1 draw against Hartlepool United last night, the Gaffer gave his post-match thoughts below.

Pete Wild’s men trailed 1-0 at the break and he summarised what was said at half time to pick the lads up; “We said keep going, keep the shape and as the game goes on; we are the fittest team in the league. So as the game goes on our fitness will tell; we’ll get back into this game and keep creating chances. Also, don’t do anything that’s not asked of you.

“But be a little bit more proactive and press more aggressively. As well as anticipate where the ball is going to go and get it into the feet of Jake Hyde. I thought we did that in the second half, and as the half wore on, I thought there was only one team in it – when we scored, I thought we’d win the game.”

Wild took a moment to add on Hyde and his return to playing after injury; “Jake is excellent at holding the ball up and getting people around him, and if we can do that and get the ball into the box a bit earlier for him then he will add goals to his game.”

The gaffer later spoke about Kieran Green’s goal; “Firstly, Jeff King was putting in excellent deliveries in all night and I thought his deliveries were fantastic – we should be doing better from that kind of ball. So then for Kieran to do that – it’s excellent, and that’s what Kieran needs to do more – bring goals to his game.”
