FC Halifax Town under-19โ€™s manager Mark Trueman has said that a fast start will be crucial as his side prepare to travel to Harrogate this afternoon (2pm kick-off).

Halifax were knocked out of the FA Youth Cup in the last fixture as they suffered a 2-1 away defeat to Hartlepool United at Victoria Park.

After conceding two goals in the first 15 minutes against Hartlepool last time out, Trueman has said that his side canโ€™t afford a similar beginning this time out.

โ€œOur game-plan, to be really positive from the start,โ€ revealed Trueman. โ€œItโ€™s hard if you are where Harrogate are in the league, having lost a few games, to concede early, itโ€™s hard to get momentum back from there.

โ€œItโ€™s definitely a game that we want to win. Weโ€™ve got to be confident in our own ability. We obviously won the league last year, whereas Harrogate are new to the league this season.โ€

โ€œItโ€™s important for us to start bright, get at them and hopefully we can get an early goal and build on that.โ€

Trueman has said that heโ€™s looking to transfer his teamโ€™s work in training onto the playing field.

โ€œItโ€™s a good chance to turn what weโ€™ve been working on in training into practise,โ€ Trueman continued.

โ€œWe want to work on the things weโ€™ve been working on in training and put it into practise. I think itโ€™s a game that I expect us to perform in and hopefully the performance will be good enough and lead to a positive result and win the game.โ€

โ€œBut, weโ€™re not going to look into the past results of Harrogate. Itโ€™s all about us performing and learning from the last game really. Thatโ€™s my focus. Iโ€™m expecting us to perform well and hopefully get us the result.โ€

We will have live updates of Harrogate U19s vs FC Halifax Town U19s on Twitter and Snapchat.
