FC Halifax Town drew 1-1 with Harrogate Town on New Year’s Day, we caught up with goalscorer Jonathan Edwards for his thoughts.

Looked liked you enjoyed that last minute equaliser.

Yeah it was a long time coming. It was nice to know that this time I wasn’t offside and it actually counted and it got the point that we at least deserved.

Chance after chance in that second half was it just a matter of time before it all came together in that second half?

We were more positive in that second half, believing that a chance will eventually come where it goes in and it did.

Did the festive period finally take its toll on the players because it was a slow start from both teams?

You could say that. But three games in nine days is going to take its toll and especially for the boys that have started those games it’s understandable. But in the second half we were the better team we came out stronger and it was good to get the point.

Undefeated over the festive period against sides in the top seven, do you feel the side now has momentum to go on a bit of a run now?

Definitely, that’s what we want to do. Obviously at the start of the season we had momentum and we were one of the top sides. Now I feel like now the only way is up and if we can keep our standards that we have set over the festive period then who knows what can happen.

Did you always sense you could back in this game, because they didn’t really look interested in grabbing the second goal?

With this group of lads, whenever we go a goal behind we always feel like we’ve got the opportunity, the talent and the work rate to get back in the game. I didn’t feel like this game was any different to the one’s we have also had a come back in.

Obviously everybody wants to win so what can be done to turn these dominating draws into wins?

Obviously football is about scoring goals to win games, so on that side we can be more clinical. And when we’ve got the lead we could do a lot more to go and get that next goal and secure the three points.

Braintree next, beat them on the opening day what are you expecting from them this weekend?

Obviously we go into any game wanting three points, we know it is going to be hard because they’re going to come out guns blazing. They got a result the other day, so it’ll be a tough game. But we will be at it trying to get the three points.
