Ben Fawkes has done a great job at delivering this competition on match-days. Engaging around 12-14 schools every season it gives local children the chance to play on the Shay’s hallowed turf.
The players and teachers get free entrance to the match and join-up with the ‘Match Day Experience’ group to meet first team players in a Q&A setting and take part in the guard of honour.
Previous winners have been Copley, St. Chad’s (double winners) and Parkinson Lane, this season we are down to the last 7 teams and Saturday’s clash will see Holywell Green take on Salterhebble.
