Shaymen TV spoke to Charlie Cooper after we were defeated to Halesowen Town 1-0 at the Shay in the FA trophy third round.

Firstly, Charlie gave us his thoughts on the team’s performance: ‘Obviously not good enough, not a lot I can say really, I think they come here, they were hard to beat, but considering the quality we’ve got, I think we can do a lot better’.

That’s an 8-game unbeaten streak ended for the Shaymen today and Charlie thought “The cutting edge in and around the box” was what was missing for the Shaymen today. Even though he felt ‘We moved the ball well at times even though they sat back’.

Credit was due to Halesowen after a good performance from the Southern League Division One Central side as Charlie stated ‘I thought they were good and worked there socks off, but it wasn’t good enough and we can’t stop here, we have to get back to it and get back to the league’.

Back into the league next week against Sutton United at the Shay, Charlie expects a tough one from our upcoming opponents: ‘We’ve got a chance in the league, we’re third and no one thought we’d be there. Sutton are another hard team to beat, no games easy in this league, it will be a tough one.

Tune into Shaymen TV to catch the full interview with Charlie Cooper.
