FC Halifax Town can extend their lead at the top of the Vanarama National League with the visit of Grimsby Town at the Shay on Tuesday night, 7.45pm kick-off.

The Shaymen won 4-0 at home to Eastleigh at the weekend to go a point ahead of Chesterfield who were in FA Cup Third Round action away at Chelsea.

Town are now unbeaten in the last six league games which has seen four wins and two away draws. One of those was a point away at Grimsby in front of the BT Sport cameras on January 3rd. Kian Spence put the Shaymen ahead before a late equaliser from Jordan Maguire-Drew denied Town all three points.

Grimsby’s last game was against the Shaymen and their only league game since the 11th December due to Covid within their squad.

They have picked up 16 points from the last 36 on offer and have not won away in their last four matches away from Blundell Park. They lost 3-2 at Dagenham, 2-0 at Solihull, 2-1 at Aldershot and 1-0 at Wealdstone

The Mariners started the season well with five wins and a draw in the opening six games but have dropped down the table in recent weeks and will go into the game in 10th place, eight points behind the Shaymen.

Their top goalscorer is John McAtee who has 7 goals in 15 games but will miss the game due to suspension whilst Ryan Taylor has got 6 in 18.
