FC Halifax Town were held to a second consecutive goalless draw.

Town came into the game looking to build on Saturdayโ€™s draw against Dorking.

Despite having the better chances of the two sides, with Adam Senior coming closest, Town couldnโ€™t break the deadlock.

Chris Millington made no changes to his side from Saturday. However, there was one change to the bench as Jack Senior returned to the squad after spending a period on the sidelines through injury.

The opening 15 minutes of the match was very even with open play. Both sides had opportunities to break the deadlock, but the best chance fell to Gateshead. Dan Ward received the ball in the box for the hosts, he managed to get his shot away, but it was blocked by the Town defence.

Angelo Cappello was brought down just outside the box giving Town a free kick. Tylor Golden took the opportunity to cross the ball into the box, it connected with the head of Milli Alli but his effort was just wide.

In the 32nd minute, a Town corner forced Filip Marschall into action for the hosts. Golden took the corner short to Alli who skipped around his man to fire a shot at goal. His effort was heading for the back of the net but the Gateshead โ€˜keeper was able to punch the ball away.

Almost instantly, Town had the best chance of the half. A. Senior connected with a cross inside the box. He got a strong head on the ball, but Marschall got down to his right to deny a Senior.

The first yellow card of the evening went to Fidel Oโ€™Rourke after he was deemed to be interfering with a free kick.

The Shaymen came out for the second half strongly after instant pressure was applied onto the Gateshead defence.

Edward Francis was the next player to be booked after he was shown a yellow card for a foul in the Town half.

A Senior was inches away from giving Town a 50th minute lead. Harvey Gilmourโ€™s free kick met the head of Senior at the back post, Ethan Pye cleared the ball off the line for the hosts.

Just five minutes later, Town made their first change of the evening. Mani Dieseruvwe came on in place of Fidel Oโ€™Rourke as Millington opted for a change of frontman.

Townโ€™s next change saw Cappello make way for J. Senior.

Some clever play from Town saw Golden feed the ball through to Jamie Cooke. His cross met Dieseruvwe at the near post but his backheel hit the side netting.

Gatesheadโ€™s first change of the night saw former Town loanee Aaron Martin replace Dan Ward.

With just less than ten minutes to play, Marschall cleared Dieseruvweโ€™s shot off the line. The rebound fell to Alli who fired just over the bar.

With four additional minutes given by the fourth official, neither side were able to do enough to secure the three points.

The Shaymen are next in action on Saturday when they travel to Aldershot in the FA Trophy, 3pm kick-off.
