FC Halifax Town Foundation are opening free coaching sessions for girls to celebrate the start of the Womenβs World Cup.
The Foundation plan to run three free to access coaching sessions in July and August using funding awarded by the National League Trust as part of a project funded by the Wembley National Stadium Trust. Β The sessions aim to use the power of the FIFA Womenβs World Cup to inspire women and girls to play more football.
The National League Trust is a partnership between the National League, the Premier League and the Professional Footballersβ Association. The Premier League and the PFA have committed to support the Trust until 2029. This support allows the Trust to help National League member clubs develop and grow their community programmes. This specific fund is aimed at encouraging activity around the FIFA Womenβs World Cup, which commences on 20th July 2023.
The sessions are open to girls between the ages of 10 and 16 years (school year 10 to year 11), of all abilities and will help budding Alessia Russoβs or Jill Scottβs to develop their football skills, increase confidence, whilst keeping active with friends.Β The sessions will include a variety of fun sessions and games to help support the development of football skills as well as plenty of time playing games.
The sessions are part of FC Halifax Town and the Foundations aim to increase the number of women and girls who regularly play football; provide more opportunities for women and girls to develop their skills and confidence; and encourage women and girls from under-represented or isolated communities to play football.
