FC Halifax Town are delighted to make Kane Thompson-Sommers their first new signing of the 2023/24 season.
The midfielder joins the Shaymen having been released by Hereford FC at the end of last season where the Bulls finished 16th in the Vanarama National League North and is a player who can contribute at both ends of the pitch.
Thompson-Sommers began his career in Tottenham Hotspurs’ academy before making the switch to Birmingham City in 2016. Whilst in the Blues’ academy, Thompson-Sommers made a number of appearances in the Premier League 2 before being loaned out to Woking in August 2021 where he featured as a second half substitute against the Shaymen in our 3-2 win at The Laithwaite Community Stadium. The young midfielder made a total of 11 appearances and scored once for Woking before returning to Birmingham in December 2021.
At the end of the 2021/22 season, Thompson-Sommers was one of eight players to be released by the Blues and he joined Hereford last August after impressing whilst playing as a trialist for Cardiff City in a friendly against the Bulls. Over the course of last season, Thompson-Sommers made 34 appearances in all competitions for Herford scoring twice.
