FC Halifax Town’s U19s had an impressive 8-1 victory over Farsley Celtic today.

Mark Trueman’s side went behind after 2 minutes as Droni’s deflected effort hit the crossbar and bounced in the back of the net to give Farsley Celtic the lead.

Town looked for the equaliser with efforts from Keelan Swales and Anku narrowly missing target.

The young Shaymen caused Farsley problems in the wide areas, with crosses from Swales and Adiele requiring the Farsley defence to scramble well to deny FC Halifax.

Farsley Celtic nearly went two goals ahead as a high looping ball into the box was fumbled by Town keeper’ Rushworth, but the ball did not cross the line and play continued, with Town resuming their pressure in the opponent’s half.

The pressure paid off as Keelan Swales dodged numerous tackles to finish emphatically into the top corner in the 23rd mine to level the game for FC Halifax.

Swales grabbed his second of the game not long after, cutting inside from the left and finishing low and hard into the Farsley goal, in the 28th minute.

The third seemed to be inevitable, with Town’s striker Anku coming close twice in quick succession, but he couldn’t find the final finish.

The third eventually came as Karamo Sesay stepped up from over 30 yards out and found the back of the net with a sensational goal in the 38th minute, putting Halifax into a comfortable first-half lead.

Town continued their performance early in the second half but couldn’t find the final ball to add to their lead.

The fourth goal of the afternoon for Town was scored in the 53rd minute with Adiele cutting in from the left side and finding the back of the net with a superb finish, making it 4-1 to The Shaymen.

Substitute James Sunderland made it 5-1 in the 60th minute as he found himself slipped through with a superb pass, placing the goal into the Farsley goal for his first of the afternoon.

A fantastic corner in the 70th minute by Sunderland was met with a powerful header by Maloney to make it 6-1 to Town.

Anku increased The Shaymen’s lead shortly after with a smart finish into the bottom corner after turning his marker.

James Sunderland got his second of the game in the 77th minute with another fantastic long-range goal for Town, with the Farsley keeper’ not being able to keep the powerful shot out of his net.

The team now look forward to their final league game against South Shields next Wednesday afternoon at Weetwood.
