The Emirates FA Cup was in back in full swing this afternoon, with a host of Vanarama National League North clubs in action.

There was a big Curzon Ashton win who beat Bedworth United 4-0 at the Tameside Stadium. Strugglers Altrincham beat last year’s FA Vase winners Morpeth Town, and there was a lively contest between FC United of Manchester and Harrogate Town. Joe Colbeck scored a 95th minute equaliser for Harrogate as they drew 3-3. They will replay their tie on Tuesday.

Boston United suffered a shock defeat at the hands of Kettering Town, as they had Joe Maguire sent off. Alfreton won 2-0 away at Kings Lynn, whilst Kidderminster Harriers avoided an upset at the hands of Lancaster City, winning 3-2. Chorley did suffer defeat though, losing 1-0 at Northern League side Spennymoor.

In the big clash at Edgeley Park, Stockport County overcame last season’s cup sweethearts Salford City 2-0, and Worcester fell to 3-0 defeat at home to Brackley.
Elsewhere in the FA Cup, there were several big wins for a number of competing clubs.

Burgess Hill beat Bristol side Cadbury Heath 6-1, whilst Ebbsfleet United beat Havant & Waterlooville 7-0 on Stonebridge Road. Worthing won 6-0 away at St Albans City and there was a thrashing for Swindon Supermarine as they fell 7-1 at Welling United. Weymouth beat Brimscombe & Thrupp 6-0 and Merstham beat Thamesmead Town 5-1.

The biggest shock of the afternoon though was, arguably, Taunton Town’s 2-1 win against Hampton & Richmond– a side 2 leagues above them.
The draw for the 4th Qualifying Round takes place on Monday 3rd October.
