Ahead of Saturday’s fixture between Ebbsfleet United vs Halifax Town, we look at some of the players to have played for both clubs.

Due to the distance between the clubs only one man has made appearances for both clubs.

Goalkeeper Lee Smelt signed for Gravesend & Northfleet in October 1976. He stayed with the club for four years and made over 200 appearances keeping just under 70 clean sheets. Following these good performances, Brian Clough signed Smelt for European Cup holders Nottingham Forest.
After making just one appearance he went on loan to Peterborough and made seven appearances before signing for Halifax in 1981. Smelt made over 130 appearances for the Shaymen in a three-year spell with the club. Smelt left in 1984 for Cardiff which also saw him join Exeter on a short loan spell.

Towards the end of his career Smelt became assistant to Dave Carr at Hythe in 1989 before becoming manager in 1990. Smelt left to become manager of Margate in 1991 making the odd appearance for the reserves.
