Good evening, and welcome to you all. Tonight is our seventh FA Cup match of the season, which I believe is a record for our club, even including the many years as Halifax Town AFC. Maybe the statisticians can verify this, and maybe we can extend the run even further yet.
The financial rewards for progressing in the modern-day competition are well worth having, and make our Supporters Club fundraising look like chicken feed. Even so, we persevere with our efforts, the main one currently involving the raffle for the miniature Lego brick model of the Shay. The Neatby family are (as ever) doing a sterling job selling tickets, although be aware that you need to purchase your tickets quickly, as the winner will be drawn at half-time in the New Year fixture with Darlington here at the Shay.
Only a couple of weeks left, then. Remember that a secondary competition to guess or estimate the number of pieces used in the model’s construction concludes on the same day, with a prize of two “VIP match day experiences” for the lucky winner.
This season, the Supporters Club will host the match sponsorship against Boston United on Saturday 4th March. All are welcome (Supporters Club Member or not) to join us on the day, and it goes without saying we really hope you will! For £50 a head, or £40 for season ticket holders, you will receive:
Match Day Tickets for premium seating in the East Stand.
A four course pre-match meal and half time refreshments.
Match Day Programme & Team Sheet, Man of the match nomination.
Photographs on the pitch and at the post-match entertainment.
It all sounds too good to be true, and has proved extremely popular in previous seasons. I will certainly be partaking, but don’t let that put you off!
