FC Halifax Town came away with a 2-0 win over Dover Athletic. Pete Wild spoke to Shaymen TV after the win to talk about his thoughts, Cameron Kingβs goals, the fans, and Maidenhead United.
His thoughts on the gameβ¦
He said: βReally pleased. I thought, in the first half, we were excellent with the ball. We nullified their threat. In the second half we defended for our lives. They put us under a lot pressure, and I thought we withstood that. Then we said if we could stay in the game, weβd be able to hit where we wanted.β
Cameron Kingβs goalsβ¦
He said: βIt was nice to get an early goal. It settled the nerves and really pushed us forward. But I thought all the way through the first half we were the better side. Heβs done exactly what I wanted him to do. Heβs kicked it as far away from our goal as he could. Luckily, itβs dropped into the back of the net.β
The fansβ¦
He said: βWe are really pleased. Thank you very much. Itβs a long trip down the country, and I get that. But, thank you very much for coming because you easily couldβve stayed at home and watched it on the telly. So, to come follow us all the way down there, thank you very much for that. All the staff and the players are really appreciative.β
Maidenhead Unitedβ¦
He said: βItβs another tough game. Weβve got to go and back today up. Weβre going to work hard all week and make sure weβre ready for that and back results like this up next week. Especially with it being another long trip on the road.β
