FC Halifax Town condemned Dover Athletic to a 15th league game without a win with a 3-1 win at the Crabble with two goals from Billy Waters and one for Kieran Green.

The home side made one change from their defeat at Torquay last weekend with Harry Ransom in for Reda Johnson, whilst Town made one enforced change half an hour before kick-off with Jesse Debrah coming in as a late replacement for Tom Bradbury who missed out due to illness.

Town were ahead on 8 minutes through top goalscorer Billy Waters. Dover didn’t clear the ball and allowed Matty Warburton to head the ball into Waters’ path and he slotted the ball past Adam Parkes

Just two minutes after Waters’ goal, Matty Warburton’s corner into the box was headed over the bar by Kieran Green.

The home side looked to find an equaliser with Ben Williamson firing a shot from the edge of the box but Green was able to clear the ball away.

Another Town corner saw Warburton find Green again, this time his header was on target, but Parkes was able to tip his effort away from danger.

Aaron Cosgrave had a curling effort wide before Gregory had a shot from a tight angle which Goalkeeper Sam Johnson parried out for a corner.

Gregory had another effort just into the second half, but his effort was scuffed and easy for Johnson to claim.

A lovely counterattack from the Shaymen as they cleared a Dover corner. Johnson played the ball to Warburton, found Vale, wide for Spence and his cross was headed over the bar by Waters.

Vale found Warren in behind the Dover defence and Parkes had to be at his best to keep the effort out for a corner, Maher headed the ball wide from the resulting corner.

Elliot Newby came on as a substitute for Jack Vale on the hour mark and within four minutes he had the opportunity to double the lead. Waters played him in behind the home defence putting him one on one with Parkes but dragged his shot wide of the target.

Warburton had an effort deflected wide; Green headed over again from the corner.

However, Dover equalised on 75 minutes through Ben Williamson’s second league goal of the season from a corner but just five minutes later Green finally got his goal heading past Parkes from an Elliot Newby cross to seal the three points and his second goal of the season.

Waters got his second of the afternoon and his 12th goal in 18 games with two minutes left, slotting the ball past Parkes after good build up play for the Shaymen.

The result sees Town on a run of just one defeat in the last 14 games and move up to 5th in the table.
