There are many connections between Halifax Town and Darlington, however only a few players have featured for the reformed Halifax club. We take a look at those players.

Simon Ainge is currently a member of the Darlington squad, signing for them after leaving FC Halifax last year. So far, he has 33 competitive appearances at Darlo with four goals to his name. Prior to joining Town in 2016, Simon played most of his career as a defender, however he converted to a striker whilst at the Shay and has an impressive record, scoring 35 goals in 53 appearances.

Mark Bower featured predominately at the Shay in his season here, in 2010/11. He made 41 appearances with one goal in his time with the club. He previous club was Darlington where he appeared less often, making only 13 appearances in his one season there. He retired from playing football at Guiseley in 2013, going onto managed them straight away. He led them into the National League before moving onto fellow Yorkshire side, Bradford Park Avenue.

Another club connection is defender, Danny Hone. Danny has not yet confirmed retirement for the game and at 29 should still have more years ahead of him, however since leaving Town in 2017, he has not played for a club. In his one year at the club, he scored four times in his nineteen appearances. His time at Darlington was during a season long loan from Lincoln City in 2010/11. He played 21 times and scored once.

Midfielder, John McReady spent a short time at the Shay for the 2013/14 season, making 14 appearances. He is an academy product from Darlington and left in 2012 after scoring three times in 56 appearances. During his spell with the Quakers, he was loaned out twice to Billingham Town and Whitby Town before moving on to York City where he had some minutes in League Two, but rarely featured. Currently, John plays in the Northern Football Alliance Division Two with Whitburn Athletic.

The final player we will look at is Andrew Milne. His link is only small however with only a hand full of appearances at each club. The defender has largely played in non-league football following leaving Leeds United in 2010 having been an academy product. Clubs of note that he has played for include Barrow, Gainsborough Trinity and Tadcaster Albion.
