FC Halifax Town won 1-0 against Dagenham & Redbridge to make it three wins from three.

Town striker Jamie Allen spoke to Lewis Tomlinson following the win

Allen said: “It wasn’t the best of games, was it? It wasn’t pretty, but we’re gonna adapt. Some games we’re gonna have a lot of possession, some games we aren’t, but we’ve proved again today that we can deal with a different way of how a team plays. We’ve fought really hard for the 90 minutes and got the three points, so yeah, delighted.”

Allen acknowledged than the wind and rain played a part in the way the game was played, but said: “The conditions were the same for both teams, we both had to get on with it and we dealt with the conditions well and we got the three points which is the main thing.”

Another huge positive to take from today’s game was the work rate the Town players showed when they were under pressure. Allen said that the hard-working attitude is an important aspect of the squad.

“It comes from everyone, we’re all on the same page, we all want to work hard, we all want three points and we all want to do well for each other and I think you could do see that today, everyone was working for each other and I think that showed on the pitch. We dominated both boxes, we’ve come away with the goal and we’ve defended really well. We’ve got the clean sheet and we’ve got the goal, and that’s really important.”

Allen also praised Michael Duckworth, who he linked up brilliantly with down the right-hand side and said it was hugely important for the winger and full-back to have a good connection.

“It’s massive. When we’re in possession, or out of possession and the winger’s drifting in, he’s always telling me “inside, inside.” And yeah, Ducky’s got great quality, he can flick balls in behind, he can play them to my feet, so it’s great to have a player like Ducky alongside me.”

Finally, Allen was asked about the test Town’s next opponents, Wrexham, will offer on Tuesday night.

“We know what Wrexham are about, there a great side in this league, every year. It’ll be a tough test for, but we’ve got no fear and we’ll go there for the three points, of course we will.”
