Dagenham & Redbridge: I Am Absolutely Over The Moon

FC Halifax Town manager Pete Wild was in good spirits speaking to Shaymen TV after Town’s 3-1 win at Dagenham & Redbridge.

“I am absolutely over the moon,” Wild said about the victory. “I thought the effort and application we showed as two different footballing sides was brilliant. In the first half we were a very good football team then in the second half we had our back against the walls. So, to get any result against Dagenham is great because they’re very good.”

Pete went on to speak about his thinking going into the match, “We knew the way to deal with Dagenham was to go after them, which we did at home,” he explained to Shaymen TV. “So, we tried to go at them again but this time here in the away match, and I thought the boys got in Dagenham’s faces really well.”

Matt Warburton opened the scoring for the Shaymen with Billy Waters then coming up with a brace. The hosts did pull a goal back to make it 2-1, but Town prevailed 3-1 winners.

Wild took his time to speak about the goals, “Warburton will tell you his was a shot, and I’ll tell you I’m not sure, but it went in,” he said amusingly. “I’m dead pleased for Matty. Then for Billy, we said on Tuesday night that we didn’t get enough balls into the box and we weren’t ruthless, so we worked on that during the week. It showed through Billy’s goals that we put the ball into the box a lot more than we have done in a while.”

The Gaffer ended his post-match duties by looking ahead to the next game – away at Liversedge in the West Riding County Cup, “I’m looking forward to it, as there’s a few lads that need a game. I want to win the match, so we’ll send a team of lads that need to play.”
