Following FC Halifax Town’s 2-0 win over Dagenham & Redbridge, Shaymen TV spoke to Jack Earing to get his thoughts on the game, his goal, the clean sheet, and Stockport County away.

“I thought it was an outstanding performance from the lads,” Earing said. “Considering we have had all this time off and it was a couple of months since we were in that playoff game. Some of the lads haven’t played for another two months on top as well. If you look at that, it was a great performance from the lads.”

Earing doubled the Shaymen’s lead in the 67th minute, and it proved to be the winning goal. The midfielder was delighted with his goal and feels he can continue to contribute going forward.

“It was one I’m proud of,” Earing told Shaymen TV. “It was a great ball from Greeny which set me up nicely for my first touch. I was able to bend it into the corner. It’s a great feeling to get off the mark for this season. Hopefully I can carry on my form in the next game.”

The game ended 2-0 with Town keeping a clean sheet for the first time since the 3rd of March.

“It’s always great to get a clean sheet,” Earing said. “It’s especially good for Sam and the back three to get a clean sheet, but I think that was by-product of the team as a whole. We were solid throughout and we restricted them to not many chances.”

Halifax travel to Stockport County on Tuesday for our first evening game of the season. Earing feels confident that if the team performs, they can pick up a similar result.

“Obviously they’re a big team,” Earing told Shaymen TV. “They’ve been tipped as promotion favourites, so we’ll be looking to go there on the back of this result and hopefully get another good result.”
